The healthier we feel, the better we perform. In our jobs, the classroom, and relationships, a healthy mind and body helps us create a better life for ourselves and those around us. Healthy people are more likely to pursue and achieve their goals, take on leadership positions, and be active in their communities. Educate, Activate and Communicate are the three components of a healthy, happy lifestyle that will able us to be the best we can be as East Georgia State College faculty, staff, and students.

Educate

When we educate ourselves about how to live a heathier lifestyle, we often find that little changes can create big results.

The University System of Georgia offers a comprehensive website that includes extensive information on the topics we need to stay educated regarding our health.

The areas below are examined in detail:

Activate

The term activate does not relate solely to physical activity. It also involves taking the first step toward something new. Activate your commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

Here is information on how to commit to a new lifestyle and stick with it.

For students, the following resources are helpful:

Communicate

Campus wellness cannot be treated as a band-aid, and you won’t be able to find it in a fitness app. Engagement, motivation, support and strategy are the keys to a successful program. If stakeholders, students, and employees, are not involved in the solution, it's difficult to succeed. Preventable wellness is a complete lifestyle and behavior change and change takes time and commitment. It also takes integration into the fabric of the classroom, policy making, and activity planning. It will only work if people engage.

The health and wellness policies currently in place on campus are listed below:

Please note that the Tobacco Free Policy includes the following information:

The use of tobacco products is prohibited on any property owned, leased, or controlled by East Georgia State College. For the purpose of this policy, tobacco products are defined as any product derived from tobacco, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco, electronic cigarette devices.
