Frequently Asked Questions

EGSC students pay a $50 technology fee each semester, which helps support access to essential tech services like campus Wi-Fi, student email, Microsoft Office 365, printing, and more.

If you're attending EGSC-Statesboro or EGSC-Augusta, you'll also pay a tech fee to the partner campus (Georgia Southern or Augusta University) so you can use their computers and printers.

As an enrolled EGSC student, you get free access to Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more.

To download Office 365:

    • Log in at https://myegsc.ega.edu
    • Click “Microsoft Office 365”
    • Select “Install Apps” to download it to your personal computer or device

Student computers and printers are available at all EGSC locations:

    • Swainsboro: Library, A.C.E., Cyber Café, and computer labs (see next section for lab locations and hours)
    • Statesboro: Room H1705 and designated areas on the Georgia Southern campus
    • Augusta: A.C.E. in Galloway Hall and designated areas on the Augusta University campus

Please bring your EGSC student ID to access labs.

Computer labs are open at various times throughout the week. Locations include:

  • Swainsboro: Academic Building, Luck F. Gambrell Center, P.E. Building, and Cyber Café (Jean A. Morgan Student Activities Center)
  • Statesboro: Room H1705
  • Augusta: A.C.E. in Galloway Hall

Please bring your EGSC student ID to access labs.

Note: Labs may be reserved for classes at certain times, so check availability before you go.

Best Practices for Student-Use Computers

Restart the computer before and after use. This ensures you're working with a clean system. See the "Deep Freeze" section below for more details.

Save your work to either:

  • A personal USB flash drive, or
  • Your Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive (accessible through your myEGSC account)

Tip: Save your work often, not just when you’re done. This can help prevent accidental data loss.

Do not save your work to a campus computer. Computers are equipped with a program called DeepFreeze and any of your work saved to the computer will be lost.

EGSC student computers use a program called Deep Freeze, a program that resets the computer to its original state every time it restarts.

  • Restarting the computer before and after use ensures you're working with a clean system.
  • Any files or changes saved to the computer will be erased when it restarts.
  • Always save your work to a flash drive or to your OneDrive account; nothing saved on the computer will remain.

Always sign out of your myEGSC and Office 365 accounts before leaving a computer. This protects your personal info and keeps your accounts secure.
