President SchecterDear Members of the East Georgia State College Community,

As we begin the spring semester, I want to welcome our new students, faculty and staff to East Georgia State College, and welcome back all of those who are returning to campus.

I’m new to East Georgia State College myself and have been enjoying touring campus and getting to know many of you. When I first visited campus this past fall, I immediately noticed how often people referred to East Georgia State College as a family. I’ve only officially been on the job since January 3, and already I can see that it’s true. This is a special place, and I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome you have extended to me.

It’s my honor to serve as the college’s 6th president and build on the incredible foundation already in place. Over the past two challenging years, the college successfully completed its Decennial Reaffirmation of Accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges; launched a complete redesign of the website that will roll out this semester; and expanded athletics to include 4 junior varsity teams (men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball) and two additional Division 3 teams (cross country and tennis).

I want to assure you that I will work tirelessly with my Cabinet and with your support to continue to invest in student success, expand fundraising and marketing reach, develop new academic offerings, and advance our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

I look forward to the great things that we will do together.  In the coming weeks and months, I hope to visit with as many of you as possible to hear your thoughts about the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. In the meantime, please feel free to email me your ideas at presidentFREEOMNIUPDATE.

I wish everyone all the best for a healthy, safe and productive academic year.

Go Bobcats!

David L. Schecter, Ph.D., M.B.A.
