East Georgia Annual Awards

The East Georgia Annual Awards recognizes staff and faculty for their exceptional Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Reliability (STAR), and honors an employee who embodies the heart, mission, and values of the East Georgia Campus. 

A total of three awards are open for nomination. Each STAR award honors one faculty member and one staff member, and the Spirit of East Georgia award honors one employee (faculty or staff).

Award Categories

There will be one awardee per award category. Employees are encouraged to submit multiple nominations. 

Faculty S.T.A.R. Award

One (1) Faculty Award

This award honors a faculty member who demonstrates exceptional Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Reliability (STAR) to the East Georgia community. Nominees may demonstrate excellence through outstanding customer service to students, faculty/staff, parents, and community members, develop and encourage cooperation and collaboration, and uphold a sense of responsibility and dedication to East Georgia. 

Staff S.T.A.R. Award

One (1) Staff Award

This award honors a staff member who demonstrates exceptional Service, Teamwork, Attitude, and Reliability (STAR) to the East Georgia community. Nominees may demonstrate excellence through outstanding customer service to students, faculty/staff, parents, and community members, develop and encourage cooperation and collaboration, and uphold a sense of responsibility and dedication to East Georgia. 

Spirit of East Georgia Award

One (1) Employee Award (Faculty or Staff)

This award honors a faculty or staff member who embodies the heart, mission, and values of East Georgia. This individual demonstrates exceptional dedication, positivity, and a collaborative spirit that uplifts our campus community. Through their daily actions and attitude, they inspire others, foster a sense of belonging, and contribute meaningfully to the overall culture of the college. This award celebrates those who go beyond their job descriptions to create a supportive, welcoming and spirited campus environment.

Eligibility

An employee must be a full-time employee who has been employed by East Georgia State College for a minimum of one continuous year as of December 1, 2025.

  • Service:  
    • Provides outstanding customer service to students, faculty, parents, co-workers and community members
    • Serves as an Ambassador for the East Georgia Campus beyond job requirements
    • Performs job in an exceptionally courteous and cooperative manner
    • Provides prompt, efficient and reliable service
  • Teamwork:  
    • Develops and encourages cooperation and collaboration while displaying outstanding group effort
    • Consistently offers support, assistance and encouragement to co-workers without being asked to do so
    • Contributes to an exceptionally supportive, team-oriented environment
    • Fills in when the department is short-staffed
  • Attitude:  
    • Instills in his or her co-workers a sense of responsibility and dedication to the East Georgia Campus community
    • Consistently demonstrates patience, good humor and enthusiasm while on the job
    • Optimistically embraces change
    • Demonstrates excellence in resolving conflicts and/or when facing challenges
  • Reliability:  
    • Is dependable and trustworthy
    • Produces a high quality and quantity of work over an extended period of time
    • Gives extra effort to complete a job or handle a heavier workload
    • Volunteers for and works on special projects

 

The Nomination Process

Any employee may nominate another employee regardless of division, faculty/staff status, and supervisory or peer relationships. Nominators can nominate as many faculty and staff as they wish. All submitted nominations will be reviewed by the East Georgia Awards Review Committee, composed of both East Georgia Campus and Georgia Southern University representatives.

    • Meet all eligibility requirements.
    • Submit the required nomination materials.
    • Follow the schedule of deadlines for nominations and committees’ selection decisions.
    • Individual winners will receive a medallion and a Georgia Southern University gift basket. A certificate is presented for the years of service honorees.
    • All award winners will be listed on the East Georgia Annual Awards website (pictures, bios).
    • Attend the East Georgia Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. in Swainsboro, GA at the Luck F. Gambrell Center Auditorium. The dress code is business casual.

        • The committee review period will run from February 25 to March 11, 2026
        • Selected honorees will receive direct communication by Friday, March 13, 2026

Deadlines for submission will determine when forms are “closed.”  No incomplete or late forms will be accepted.
