East Georgia State College's Group 1080 Presents: Smartphone Photography Exhibition at Kalmanson Gallery

East Georgia State College’s student-formed art group, Group 1080, was featured in an exhibition showcasing the work of 13 talented students from the summer term 2024 Smartphone Photography class led by Professor of Art and Art Club Advisor, Desmal Purcell. The works were on display at the Kalmanson Gallery of Emanuel Arts Council. The exhibition marked the students’ first showing in an external gallery, following a successful event at the East Georgia State College (EGSC) Student Gallery in June.
Group 1080 members include Aisha Colbert, Alex McDonald, Alicia Harris, Azareyah Leeks, Brianna Johnsen, Carl Harris, Garrett Peebles, Gracy Chavis, Isay Gonzalez-Juarez, Jayse Yelder, Joel Jones, Keanu Walters, and Ty-Sean Morgan-Ford.
The opening reception for the exhibition was held on July 18 at the Kalmanson Gallery, bringing together art enthusiasts and the local community to celebrate the creative achievements of these budding photographers. The students were thrilled to share their work in a professional gallery environment, showcasing the power and versatility of smartphone photography.
