Miss East Georgia State College Scholarship Pageant to be held Saturday

The 2023 Miss East Georgia State College Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday, April 15 at 6 p.m. in the Luck F. Gambrell Center Auditorium on the EGSC Swainsboro campus. Family and friends of the contestants, students, and the community are invited to attend the free event.
The nine contestants will compete for the crown in the categories of interview, on stage question, casual wear, and evening gown. Each contestant has selected a platform project they plan to complete during their rein if they are chosen to represent EGSC. For their platform, they organize a plan for volunteering and completion of the project that they present to the judges.
Miss EGSC 2022, Carleigh DeFee, will share memories of her year during the event. Special entertainment will be provided by All Star Dance Academy.
Meet the 2023 Miss EGSC Contestants:
Jessica Morgan Strange is the 18-year-old daughter of Mark and Debbie Strange of Vidalia, Georgia. She is majoring in liberal arts at EGSC’s Swainsboro campus. Strange’s platform is “Good Deeds for Special Needs.”
Akcire Robertson is a liberal arts major from Metter, Georgia. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Ericka Mack. Her platform is “Tutoring & Mentoring with Akcire.”
Tabatha Lee Bailey is an elementary education major from Mount Vernon, Georgia. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Kimberly and Michael Griffin, and her platform is “Be Positive & Don’t Be a Bully.”
Jacque Copeland is the 18-year-old daughter of Roni Mathis and Jack Copeland of Louisville, Georgia. She is majoring in liberal arts. Copeland’s platform is “Jacque for Justice and Equality.”
Aryah Harris is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the 20-year-old daughter of Tee Harris and is pursuing a liberal arts degree. Her platform is “Surviving the A&C.”
Abbey Hutcheson is an elementary education major from Lyons, Georgia. She is the 19-year-old daughter of Wes and Angela Hutcheson. Hutcheson’s platform is “Promoting Cultural Diversity in Education.”
Kaniya Lewis is the 19-year-old daughter of Stephanie and Torrence Lewis of Louisville, Georgia. She is pursuing an elementary education degree, and her platform is “Mental Health: Mindfulness Matters.”
Miriam Imani Marlin is the 19-year-old-daughter of Dr. Sidney and Lawana Marlin of Metter, Georgia. She is pursuing a degree in elementary education. Marlin’s platform is “Five Steps Ahead: Helping Middle and High School Students Plan Their Future.”
Samantha Moore is a natural sciences major from Wadley, Georgia. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Tim and Alice Moore. Moore’s platform is “Backing the Blue.”
The pageant is hosted by EGSC’s Student Government Association. EGSC, SGA and the contestants ask the community to join us April 15!
