The Bobcats fell behind early in game one by a score of 5 to 0 in the second inning. The Bobcat’s bats woke up in the fourth inning and began the march back to the lead. At the plate Dani Wells, Bailey Davis, Makenzie Wilkerson, Ashleigh Miles, Sierra Taylor, Summer Alexander, Stephanie Ruffin, Reagan Sterrett, and Lexi McQuaig all contributed key hits as the team tied the game at 5 to 5 in the bottom of the seventh inning forcing extra innings. Game two was dominated by the Bobcats with Britney Foster on the mound striking out 10 batters. The team continued hitting the ball extremely well as the Bobcats won 7 to 1 in seven innings. Ashleigh Miles, Lexi McQuaig, and Dani Wells provided extra base hits for the Lady Bobcats who picked up the win and continue to lead the GCAA Conference standings.
Head Coach Chuck Wimberly stated after the games on Monday, "I am extremely proud of the way we fought back in game one after trailing by five runs early. We played the best defensively that we have played all season committing no errors on the day, and we got extremely good pitching from Cierra Kinlaw and Britney Foster who combined for 22 strikeouts on the day."
The softball team’s next game will be Monday, March 7 against St. Johns River College from Florida.
