Description

Responsibilities: East Georgia State College is currently accepting applications for Food Service Worker I in the Cafe. Candidate may be responsible for the register and cash drawer, preparation of food, kitchen preparation and cleaning of Cafe. Candidate must be able to work well with the public to promote East Georgia State College Auxiliary Department.

Qualifications: Applicant must be a current EGSC student. Preference will be given to individual with experience in a cafe or restaurant and handling money. Must be a people person possessing a positive disposition when dealing with the public. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a Criminal Background Investigation and may include a credit check for security purposes.

Hours: Open- Student may work day or evening hours.

Human Resources Student Worker

Description

The Office of Human Resources/Student Employment is seeking a Student Assistant or Work Study Student to assist with day to day clerical duties.

Duties include filing, copying, typing, preparing applicant response letters, and other duties as assigned.

Student must be detailed oriented, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, basic computer skills, dependable, and must be able to maintain high confidentiality. Preference will be given to students who are majoring in business or who have worked in a confidential office setting previously.

This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

Hours are flexible and will not exceed 19 hours per week.

Landscape Grounds Worker

Description

General Job Description and Duties: This position is to perform manual labor on a daily basis. Student will be required to operate landscape/grounds tools (leaf blowers, weed-eaters, edgers, lawnmowers), as well as perform physical labor (raking straw, picking up pinecones, sticks and debris). Student worker will be subjected to extreme cold and heat due to this being an outside position..

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Minimum of one year experience with a landscape maintenance contractor or similar work. Student must have been approved for federal college work study.


Preferred Skills: Student must have excellent eyesight, hearing, and manual dexterity. Should be physically fit and must be able to lift a minimum of 50 ponds routinely.


Days/Hours to be Worked: Other  – Prefer student to work on the days they are not in classes (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs) for a period of at least 8 hours each day, and 4 hours on Fridays. Hours on those days are 7AM – 4PM and 7AM – 12:00 noon on Friday.

Recruiter Assistant

Description

General Job Description and Duties: Assist Admissions Recruiter with entering recruit information in Banner (creating students ids, entering contact information, high school info and year of graduation); assist in preparing for recruiting and community events, and assisting with campus tours; assist with phones, filing, mail, and customer service as required. Make phone calls for phone calling plan; instrumental in compiling orientation packets, orientation bags, and be a part of the orientation program. Student is expected to report for scheduled work hours, complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, compile student time sheet correctly, be willing to assist in unfamiliar task when needed, and at all times present themselves in a professional manner.

Qualifications

Preferred Skills:  Student will need to possess basic computer skills, phone etiquette and people skills to be an effective student worker for this position. Student will need to be willing to learn and to not be afraid to ask questions.

Reception and/or Faculty Assistant Positions (Statesboro)

General Job Description and Duties: Meet, greet and welcome visitors. Completing all task in an appropriately and timely, take incoming telephone calls and deal with such calls promptly in a professional manner. Students are expected to take detailed phone messages for faculty/staff as well as be respectful to staff members, faculty, and students. General administrative duties include filling copiers/printers with paper, maintaining appropriate level of forms, and assist staff and faculty when needed. Must report to work on time and dress appropriately (conservative).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Students must be in good academic standing; preference is given to students who are out of Learning Support classes. Students must possess good customer service skills and telephone manners, also good verbal and written communication skills. Students must have the ability to alphabetize paper/filing and maintain confidentiality. Students must be proficient with computers, and the ability to work with diverse population.

Laboratory Assistant/Tutor

Description

General Job Description and Duties: The Student assistant will tutor mathematics, physics, geology, integrated science, and chemistry; set up and dismantle laboratory exercises; clean laboratory equipment and supplies; make copies of lecture and laboratory handouts; catalog new specimens or equipment; replace used up or worn out supplies in the laboratory with new ones; and organize, label, or rearrange laboratory specimens for students identification; catalog new and existing science and mathematics software and movies. The student is expected to assist Dr. Stracher and Dr. White at a time mutually agreed upon by them and the student. When working in Dr. Stracher’s office, the student is expected to answer the phone and take messages in his absence.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:  Student will assist with laboratory chores with the additional task of tutoring students and assisting faculty in the Science and Mathematics Division, as noted above. The Student will be required to log in and out of ADP for each work session. Student must have taken and passed Physics 2211 and Calculus 1540. Student must have the following skills in computers: MS Word, burn data onto CD, MS Excel, and Pasco Physics Data Studio software.

Financial Aid Office Assistant

The primary functions of this position will be to greet students as they enter the office and answer basic questions. Student may also be required to answer telephones, file documents, scan documents, etc.

Computer Lab Assistant

Description

Monitor computer lab, ensure printers have paper and are working properly; verify users by checking and scanning IDs at the door. Workers are expected to report to work on time and remain until shift is over; if student is going to be late or unable to work they are expected to call the supervisor ahead of time. Student worker must clean lectures and be able to enforce our no food and drink policy in the computer labs.

Special Skills or knowledge: Must be an EGSC student enrolled in at least 6 hours; must be familiar with EGSC student programs; student must possess people skills, and be able to communicate with students/faculty/staff as they enter and occupy the computer lab.

Days/Hours to be worked: Flexible - Monday-Thursday 8:00AM-7:30PM and Friday 8:00AM-12:00PM

Library Student Worker

Check desk supplies, process library materials using automated system, assist in circulation questions, shelve and edge books properly, check book drop outside, straighten up seating areas, enforce Library rules and regulations, be able to put things in chronological, numerical and alphabetical order.  In addition, recognize positions of authority, report on time for an assigned work schedule, complete assigned task in a timely fashion, and dress appropriately for the position. Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred Skills and Knowledge: Basic computer knowledge is required, ability to work with a diverse population and familiarity with basic library practices, cooperative attitude, and effective communication skills.

Custodian Student Worker

Description

2 ~ Custodial Positions
General Job Description and Duties: These positions will be primarily responsible for carrying out tasks assigned by the custodial supervisor. Those tasks include, but are not limited to: vacuuming, sweeping, dust mopping floors, wet mopping floors, washing tables, washing windows, cleaning light fixtures, dusting computer stations, emptying and washing trash containers, helping clean after special events, and filling in during staff absences. Students will be expected to be punctual and complete tasks with limited supervision.
 

Qualifications

Preferred Skills and Knowledge: Positions require standing, walking and/or crouching for extended periods of time. Applicants will also be required to use a six foot ladder on a regular basis. No experience is necessary, however, some cleaning skills and knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals is desirable.
Days/Hours to be Worked: Flexible Monday - Thursday 12:00 noon - 10:00pm and Friday 12:00 - to 6:00pm.
