Custodian I

The East Georgia College Plant Operations is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Custodian I.

The Custodian I will be a 2nd shift position. Second shift (P.M.) position is responsible for the daily cleaning of the Plant Operations, George L. Smith and Sudie Fulford CLC buildings as well as the nightly cleaning of the student and public dining areas of the Student Center. Duties include but are not limited to: emptying trash, disinfecting tables, chairs and desks, cleaning white boards, window washing, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, operating KAIVAC cleaning machine, operating various automatic floor scrubbing and carpet cleaning equipment and deep cleaning facilities during semester breaks and holidays. Other duties will include being ON-CALL to respond to emergency clean ups, moving furniture, shampooing carpeting, and preparing rooms for events. This position will be responsible for carrying out any other duties assigned by the Supervisor of Custodial Services.

A high school diploma or GED and a valid Georgia driver’s license are required. The successful candidate should possess knowledge of cleaning techniques, ability to work independently without direct supervision and indentify routine custodial items that need attention without instruction. The candidate also must be able to work with and give direction to student employees. The successful candidate must be adaptable to changes within the department. The ability to understand both written and oral instructions is a must.

Records Assistant I

This is a full-time, entry-level hourly position that reports to the Assistant Registrar on the Swainsboro campus. This position provides clerical support to the department. Duties include, but are not limited to: both excellent customer service and communication skills; document processing; correspondence; inventory control; supply orders and document imaging.

Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is required with 1 year or more office experience that sufficiently demonstrates knowledge of basic principles relevant to these duties. A two-year degree is preferred. Must have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle of equipment operated. The candidate must possess basic computer skills at the user level (ability to use Windows, Microsoft Office XP, ACCESS, e-mail, Internet). Proficiency with BANNER student information system is desirable. The successful candidate must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions accurately and in a timely manner. Organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to work with details are necessary. Preference will be given to those individuals with relevant experience.

Full-time Security Officer Statesboro

Part-time Security Officer Swainsboro

This is a part-time non-benefited position; shifts will vary.

The primary responsibility will be overseeing the safety and security on the college premises. The applicant must possess the ability to exercise assertiveness and good judgment; to take the appropriate action to deter the loss or damage to buildings, grounds, or equipment; and to prevent injury to employees, students or visitors. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and possess a valid Georgia DriverÕs License. One to two years of relevant experience is required. Employees will be required to be certified in First Aid and CPR within the first six months of employment. Applicant must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Call Center Positions

East Georgia College has openings for one full-time CCS (Call Center Specialist) and three part-time CCR (Call Center Representative) positions that reports to the office of Financial Aid, on the Swainsboro Campus. Positions will assist in all areas of Student & Enrollment Services operations performing duties which involve well-defined procedures and techniques. Routine assignments are performed independently using some degree of initiative and judgment based on knowledge gained from experience. Primary responsibility is to serve as first point of contact for calls received in Student & Enrollment Services from faculty, staff, students, and the general public; refers calls to appropriate ESS staff members as needed. The Full-time position will be responsible for scheduling hours for the part-time positions, training part-time call center staff, as well as maintaining the Enrollment Services primary lines and assisting with other duties in Enrollment Service during non-peak call center periods.

Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is required. Customer service oriented with pleasant speaking voice, knowledge of Microsoft, ability to understand general policies, guidelines, and procedures, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have good oral, written communication, time management and prioritization skills. Must be able to multi-task and work independently with limited direction.

Information Technology Specialist

East Georgia College is currently accepting applications for a full-time Information Technology Specialist. This position is located at the East Georgia College Swainsboro campus.

Assist with support and management of college's ID cards, Point-of-Sale (POS), and door access control systems. Assist faculty, staff and students with information technology hardware and software issues as well as diagnosing and resolving problems with computer workstations, laptops and printers utilized by faculty, staff and students. Repair, replace and/or upgrade workstations and laptop hardware and software as necessary. Assist in supporting other information technology tasks as necessary. Must be a self-starter who can work well independently and with little supervision. Should have excellent problem solving skills and enjoy assisting others with technology issues. Due to the nature of this position, candidate must be able to successfully multi-task as well as prioritize tasks and adjust performing tasks accordingly. Due to the 24/7 operation of the college's network and related tasks, the responsibilities of this position will sometimes need to be performed outside the college's normal operating hours (8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday). Therefore, flexibility in work schedule is necessary.

Minimum Qualifications: Diploma/degree in Information Technology or related program from a college or university. Two years direct work experience supporting workstations and peripherals in a Microsoft server environment. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office applications. Strong working knowledge supporting and troubleshooting personal computers, laptops, printers, etc.

Licensure, registration or certification is preferred: A+ Certification is preferred.

Head Librarian or Library Director

EGC Library: The library is located in the Luck Flanders Gambrell Center which also houses classrooms, two computer labs, and a state-of-the-art auditorium. The library participates in GALILEO (Georgia Library Learning Online), a web-based virtual library which provides access to multiple information resources, including GIL (GALILEO Interconnected Libraries), the online catalogs of the University System of Georgia libraries. The Library uses Voyager for its ILS. The library is a member of GOLD (Georgia Online Database), a database of serials held by all the libraries in Georgia. The Library participates in cataloging and interlibrary loan through OCLC's Connexion and FirstSearch interfaces and WorldCat database. The Library also participates in an interlibrary loan co-op using the University System's Universal Catalog (UC) and GILExpress.

Qualifications: Required - An ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS; Preferred – administrative experience in a college or university library; knowledge of automated cataloging and circulation modules, print and electronic sources; knowledge of or familiarity with other software products that provide access to or manage electronic resources such as EZProxy, MetaLib, and SFX, and discovery tools; effective oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal, managerial, and organizational skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; willingness to learn, use, and teach appropriate resources.

Responsibilities: The Library is seeking a service and team oriented librarian who will coordinate operations and procedures in various functional areas (reference, circulation, cataloging, interlibrary loan); has the ability to interface with computer services staff; will be responsible for oversight of the Library webpage; will assume other library duties as assigned; will work some evening and weekend hours; will participate in college and community activities. The successful candidate will be interested in finding creative ways to manage the library in order to engage students. Active participation in the development of a learning commons will be an immediate focus for this individual.

Position: Reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
