Veterans' Administration Benefits

East Georgia College actively encourages former service personnel, children of permanently disabled veterans, and war orphans to take full advantage of benefits available through the Montgomery GI Bill. More information regarding the application for educational benefits can be found at http://www.gibill.va.gov/ or by calling 1-888-GIBILL1 (1-888-442-4551) or 1-800-829-4833.

Those persons eligible should apply for admission to the college and complete the admission process. Certification of enrollment must be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs through the Director of Financial Aid after enrollment at the college. Please submit a copy of your Certification of Eligibility and DD Form 214 (or other equivalent document) to the Director of Financial Aid, Office of Financial Aid, 131 College Circle, Swainsboro, Georgia 30401-2699.

Veterans and other eligible persons entitled to Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits may be certified to the Department of Veterans Affairs for a total of 36 equivalent credit hours in Learning Support (only 12 hours may be attempted in each of the basic skills).

Vocational Rehabilitation

Through the Vocational Rehabilitation Services, a student with a physical or mental disability may obtain grants to cover tuition and possibly books and supplies. Students who believe they may qualify for vocational rehabilitation services should contact the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Office of Rehabilitation Services at 1-404-232-3910 for additional information or visit their website at http://www.dol.state.ga.us/vr_services.htm.
