Biography:
Professor Thomas A. Upchurch, Ph.D., is the History Dept. Coordinator and longest-serving faculty member in the department, having started in 2001. Dr. Upchurch has published 8 history books, 4 articles and more than 20 book reviews in scholarly academic journals, and about 60 encyclopedia articles. His books include Legislating Racism: The Billion Dollar Congress and the Birth of Jim Crow (University Press of Kentucky, 2004); Christian Nation?  The United States in Popular Perception and Historical Reality (Praeger, 2010). His research and teaching interests include Race Relations in the USA and Christian Theology. He teaches on the Statesboro campus.
