Time to get wet at the annual Duct Tape Regatta

On September 24, 2016, East Georgia State College will host their annual Parents, Family, Friends and Alumni Day at their Swainsboro campus. One of the fun features of PFFA Day is the annual Duct Tape Regatta, where teams build boats out of cardboard and duct tape—nothing else!—and see who can cross Ezra Pond the fastest… or sink in the most spectacular fashion while trying to cross.
Check in for the Regatta begins at 10 a.m. and the race begins at 11 a.m. Anyone is welcome to participate, but boats must be made of flat cardboard and duct tape—nothing else! The boat must have a bottom and sides (no paddleboards, etc.) and there can only be two people in the boat during the race. Team members must be on both sides of the pond to help with the launch of the boat and to pull the boat out again, and participants must use oars and life vests provided by EGSC.
Awards will be presented to the fastest and overall winner of the race, the most creative/best use of theme (to enter for this award, the boat must go along with this year’s theme of “artist,” where boat teams pick an artist and design a boat around them), and the Titanic Award presented to the boat that sinks the most dramatically. Deadline to register for the Regatta is September 23.
