Regan Philips, senior EGSC biology major, has been awarded a paid internship with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Regan will be working with Matt Elliot who is project coordinator and program manager with the DNR’s Nongame Conservation Section.
She will be conducting research on Gopher Tortoise conservation in several locations in Georgia including Fort Benning, the Okefenokee Swamp, and areas near Brunswick. Regan is scheduled to graduate from East Georgia State College this summer with a bachelor of science degree in Biology, and her internship with DNR will begin this fall.
"Regan is a shining example of a student who overcame academic challenges and never gave up," said Dr. Jimmy Wedincamp, professor of biology and chair of the department of biology. "I’m over-the-moon proud of her!" Everyone at EGSC joins in congratulating Regan on her accomplishments!
