East Georgia State College alumnus Levi Proctor was the winner of the three-month Bag-Tag Challenge at EGSC’s Piney Woods Disc Golf Course. Runners up were EGSC sophomore Clay Akins and EGSC alumnus Beau Gunn. All received prize money.
The tournament was composed of personal challenge matches and has been running since May 16. Sponsored by the Sport and Recreation Club, the Bag-Tag Challenge featured a one-day kick-off round, followed by several months of one-on-one challenge matches. All participants played the kick-off round on May 16 and were awarded tags indicating their standing. From there, players challenged other players in the tier immediately above them in an attempt to climb to the top of the standings.
Participants in order of their finishing ranking were: Levi Proctor, Clay Akins, Beau Gunn, Michael (Brian) Clements, Nathan Singletary, Steven Clark, Alan Brasher, Guy Singletary, Dillan Royal, Tucker (Stephen) Graham, Travis Wickstrom and Kirk Hagan.
Dylan Royal, also an EGSC alumnus, and EGSC professor Dr. Alan Brasher were also winners of the Shark-Attack Doubles event. This is an EGSC signature event first played in 2006. The single-disc best-shot doubles tournament has the added twist that everyone must throw an Innova DX Shark. Their prizes were two inflatable flotation rings featuring cartoon sharks.
