East Georgia State College invites the community to its annual “Parents, Family, and Alumni Day” celebration on Saturday, Sept. 20 beginning at 10:00am. The event, open to everyone in the community, will take place on the beautiful EGSC campus in Swainsboro, and everything is free of charge.
The celebration will kick off at 10:00am, immediately following the Bobcat Dash 5K and Fun Run, with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the outdoor basketball courts. The tournament will last until an overall winning team is determined. At 10:30am, the exciting Bobcat Regatta Duct Tape Boat Race will begin with EGSC students and local community members racing each other across Ezra Pond in homemade boats made of only cardboard and duct tape. Awards will be given to the fastest boat and the boat with the most creative use of theme and costumes. The Titanic Award will go to the “best sinking” boat. All community members are invited to compete in the Regatta and the basketball tournament. Both events require pre-registration.
