Robert A. Mullins, author of 12 Monkeys & a Green Jacket, will be featured on C-SPAN’s Book TV this Saturday, August 1. Book TV airs on C-SPAN2 at noon (Comcast channel 183 in Augusta). The book is featured on this program as part of the C-SPAN Cities Tour, which visited numerous locations to explore the unique history and literary culture of Augusta.
During this Saturday’s airing, learn about the history of Lake Olmstead in Augusta. Created as a product of the Augusta Canal’s enlargement of 1873, Lake Olmstead was once a popular tourist attraction in the early 20th century. After a bacterial contamination suit shut the lake down, it was left ignored and neglected, making the pollution problem worse. Mullins, author of 12 Monkeys & a Green Jacket, talks about the community’s response and the lack of awareness about the lake’s history and significance.
Mullins earned his J.D. from the University Of Oregon School Of Law, his M.A. in Political Science from Emory University and his B.S. from Presbyterian College. Mullins has authored numerous professional journal articles, served as the editor of the CSRA Environmental Law Reporter, and is a political science professor at East Georgia State College’s Augusta campus and an adjunct professor in the legal studies program at American Public University.
