Moran named  EGSC Director of Admissions

   Michael Moran, the former Assistant Director of the Learning Commons at East Georgia State College, has been named the new Director of Admissions. Moran has worked at EGSC for seven years.

   In his new role, Moran will develop and implement recruitment strategies to help meet institutional goals and initiatives as well as direct the day-to-day operations of the Admissions Office to ensure the office remains in compliance with federal, state, university system, and college regulations. Furthermore, he will serve as the DSO and SCO for International and Military students in addition to other official duties.

“Stepping into this role provides me an opportunity to lead an ambitious team of individuals with the goal to establish a new inception. We as a team are presented with an opportune moment to redefine the Office of Admissions while still being committed to advancing the mission of EGSC and serving our community and students” Moran said.

   “East Georgia State College is proud to appoint Mike Moran as our Director of Admissions. Mike has lived, worked and attended school in this region for many years and understands the needs of the region,” said Dr. Bob Boehmer, EGSC President. “He is a graduate of EGSC and understands the unique role EGSC plays in meeting the needs of the region. He has served the college in various roles on both our Swainsboro and Statesboro campuses and knows how EGSC’s three locations enable us to serve a wide range of individual student needs. He will be a model for our students about how to pursue a lifetime of education having completed his associates degree at EGSC and gone on to Georgia Southern University to earn his bachelors and masters degrees and to now pursue his doctorate.”  

   Moran received his Associate of Arts in Psychology from East Georgia State College and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. He continued his education at Georgia Southern University, receiving a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration. Moran is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in Education Leadership at Georgia Southern University.

   “Michael, having served the College in various capacities, will bring a new energy to the Office of Admissions. To the benefit of the College, he possesses a solid grasp of data analytics and will lead the decision-making of the unit to even better levels of excellence,” said Dr. Sandra Sharman, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. “It is exciting to see the momentum of the admissions office grow, and Michael will be key in continuing that trend.”

   While at EGSC, Moran completed the Staff Leadership Development Program and was the recipient of the 2018 STAR Staff Award.
