East Georgia State College recently announced the hiring of Katelyn Moore as Communications Coordinator. She will work with the Department of Institutional Advancement to help further communications both with the community and within the college.
Moore has almost eight years of experience as a reporter, graphic artist and newsroom editor from her time at The Forest-Blade weekly newspaper in Swainsboro. She will bring her many experiences as a community journalist and advertising and publication designer to EGSC.
“EGSC is a vibrant, exciting part of our community and I want to help share their successes as they grow and change to serve the needs of our area,” Moore said.
She earned her General Studies degree from Valdosta State University with a focus in English, Journalism and Anthropology in 2007. Since coming to Swainsboro, Moore has been involved in numerous community projects, including serving on the Pine Tree Festival Committee. Moore also serves on the Karrh Community Arts Center and Dixie Theater Committee, as well as the committee working to bring the Smithsonian’s Hometown Teams exhibit to Swainsboro next year.
During her time at The Forest-Blade, she received three awards from the Georgia Press Association in their Advertising Contest (2010 and 2011) and was part of the team recognized by the Georgia School Board Association in 2012 with the Print Media Beacon Award.
She is the daughter of Andy and Barbara Moore of Swainsboro.
