Miss EGSC Crowned Saturday Evening at the College
East Georgia State College was the site of the 2013 EGSC Scholarship Pageant on Saturday evening, February 2, at 7 p.m. in the Luck Flanders Gambrell Center. This year’s theme was “Cowgirls & Crowns.” EGSC President, Dr. Bob Boehmer welcomed a full house to the pageant. Dabney Edenfield, emcee for the pageant, was introduced by EGSC’s Pageant Director, Vicki Sherrod.
Miss East Georgia State College 2013 is Austin Carruth of Swainsboro and her platform is childhood cancer awareness. Members of her court are first place runner-up Jemaria Jenkins of Sylvania and Ann Marie Hendley, second place runner-up. The outgoing Miss EGSC 2012 is Rachel Frederick.
Entertainment was presented by Will Gay and Rachel Frederick. The Miss East Georgia State College Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary for the Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant.
The newly crowned Miss East Georgia State College will compete in the Miss Georgia Pageant, June 19 - 22, 2013, at the River Center in Columbus, Georgia. The Miss Georgia Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss America Pageant and has evolved well beyond being focused on beauty.
