The East Georgia College softball team continued their strong start to the season on Tuesday by defeating South Georgia College in a two game series, both by a score of 3-2.
The first game had Brinsley Screws knock in two of the three runs despite not getting a hit. Whitney Smith, Beth Criswell, and Ashley Matherne all had two hits apiece. The team as a whole went seven-for-27 and got two stolen bases, one from Screws and one from Matherne.
Brittany Middleton was in the circle for the Lady Bobcats, throwing the complete seven innings, striking out five, walking one, giving up two hits, two runs, but none earned.
In the second game, the Bobcats got an RBI apiece from Molly Lillis, hers coming from a home run, and Mallory Riner. Nikki Sims added a couple of hits, and the offense as a whole went seven-for-24 in the game.
Mallory Riner threw five innings in the game, striking out seven, walking one, giving up three hits and only allowing two earned runs. Courtney Jenkins threw the other two innings for the Lady Bobcats, not allowing a hit and striking out two.
The wins put the Lady Bobcats at 11-2 overall on the season, giving the team a lot of confidence as conference play approaches. The next home games for the Lady Bobcats will be on March 12th against Darton College.
