East Georgia State College Director of Business Affairs Operations, Michelle Goff, has earned recognition by the University System of Georgia for her work in directing the construction, expansion and renovations of buildings on the Swainsboro and Statesboro campuses of the college.
Goff accepted the USG Judy Wilder Lifetime Achievement Award for her personal efforts in oversight of the construction on the Swainsboro campus of the two residential units, Bobcat Villas South and West, the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center and the Academic Building Expansion. In Statesboro, her effort has included the construction of the Statesboro campus on Highway 301 South. The award was presented by Jim James, USG Vice Chancellor for Real Estate and Facilities, during a conference at Callaway Gardens on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Goff is the 10th recipient of the award established in 2004. The award recognizes individuals for a lifetime of commitment, integrity and passion for their work in support of higher education.
Goff developed and organized the Office of Business Operations at EGSC in 2014 after holding positions as Director of Facilities and Director of Plant Operations. Her current role includes management and oversight of auxiliary services, plant operations, business affairs – accounts payable and purchasing, fleet vehicle management and acting as liaison with the University System of Georgia Real Estate and Facilities division on annual MRR projects and minor capital projects.
Her strategy as Director of Business Operations is based on the very simple premise that the support function of her department is key to the success of delivering a first-class education to the students at EGSC. The department’s functions are aligned with the college’s strategic plan and the Complete College Georgia Initiative.
According to EGSC President Bob Boehmer, “Understanding the big picture and setting goals based on that strategy have become second nature to Michelle. Her deliberate planning and execution continue to move the college forward, even in the unstable environment we face.”
Under Goff’s leadership, the college has won the following awards: Governor’s Energy Challenge in 2013, Bobcat Villas earned the Award of Excellence by the Association of Builders and Constructors in 2012, and Bobcat Villas West, as a part of the P3 program, earned the Georgia Peach Award.
Dr. Boehmer stated, “Michelle Goff deserves this recognition for being consistent – for being focused – and for realizing that a student’s success is paramount to all we do.”
