At its December board meeting, the Fulford Center Advisory Board took time to honor three board members who have served since the Center’s opening in 2010 and whose terms expire at the end of the year. Fulford Center Director Jean Schwabe expressed her sincere gratitude for their leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication to the Fulford Center.
Norma Kennedy served as one of the three East Georgia State College board representatives and served as secretary for the board for five years. Bill Rogers and Betsy Johnson were two of the three community representatives. Johnson has served as board vice-chair for the past four years. Each member has served three two-year terms and was presented a commemorative plaque as a thank you for their service and their commitment to excellence.
Located on the campus of East Georgia State College, the Fulford Center’s mission is to provide an environment where learning opportunities take place and community relationships are enriched in an effort to address the Center’s goals of education, civic engagement, and hospitality. Funding for the Center’s construction was made possible through a generous donation to the East Georgia State College Foundation from Mr. and Mrs. A. D. "Pete" Correll in remembrance of Mrs. Correll’s mother, Sudie A. Fulford, a highly respected Emanuel County teacher and community volunteer.
