Volume 4 of Coal and Peat Fires: A Global Perspective will be released in mid-September of this year. This volume focuses on Peat—Geology, Combustion and Case Studies. Edited by East Georgia State College Professor Emeritus for Geology Dr. Glenn B. Stracher, Anupma Prakash of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, and Gullermo Rein of the Department of Engineering at Imperial College, London, this is the fourth and final volume of Coal and Peat Fires: A Global Perspective.
This last of four volumes in the collection, Peat—Geology, Combustion and Case Studies, examines in detail peat fires chronicled in several countries. In addition, the geology of peat, peat megafires, infrared analysis of fires, and the mathematical modeling of fire hazards are presented. The volume includes a companion website with an interactive world map of coal and peat fires, collections of slide presentations, research data, additional chapters and videos at booksite.elsevier.com/9780444595102.
The publishing of this volume concludes over a decade of work on this project by the three editors. The book is available at http://store.elsevier.com for pre-order, and Elsevier is currently offering several discounts: 15% pre-order discount for Volume 4, a 30% discount on the purchase of any three volumes, and a 40% discount on the purchase of the four-volume set.
