EGSC’s Dr. Armond Boudreaux Newest Book to Soon Be Released
Dr. Armond Boudreaux, assistant professor of English at East Georgia State College, has a new book being published entitled, " That He May Raise," which will soon be available through local bookstores and on Amazon.com.
"That He May Raise" is a collection of loosely-related stories, and at bottom, it's about the problem and mystery of suffering. In the main story--a novella called "Cain's End"--a husband tries to force his wife to do something that horrifies her. His actions ultimately ruin her life and threaten to ruin the lives of others. The events (and sins) of that story have large and small ripple effects on characters in the other stories.
Dr. Boudreaux adds, “At the end of the day, I suppose the book is asking if suffering can be redemptive (and if so, how?). The title of the collection comes from John Donne's poem, Hymn to God, My God, in My Sickness, which ends with this line: ‘Therefore that he may raise, the Lord throws down.’ I suppose that's the thing that I'm grappling with in these stories.”
