EGSC receives 2015 Military Friendly® Schools designation

East Georgia State College is one of the Military Friendly® Schools on the 2015 list published by Victory Media, a service-disabled, veteran-owned business serving the military community.

The Military Friendly® Schools designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.

The survey captures over 50 leading practices in supporting military students and is available free of charge to the more than 8,000 schools approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding.
“We are honored to be designated as military friendly. As a college of access and opportunity, we especially want to make EGSC accessible to those who have given so much to our nation,” said Bob Boehmer, President of EGSC.

“Our service members are able to pursue their degrees on any of our three campuses - Swainsboro, Statesboro and Augusta - and online. And like our armed forces, ‘versatility’ is the key to our collective success. What these men and women bring to the classroom in regard to life experiences and skill sets is simply exceptional and a value to our faculty, staff and their student colleagues,” added President Boehmer.

Now in its sixth year, the Military Friendly® Schools designation provides service members with transparent, data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities. The survey, methodology, criteria and weightings are developed with the assistance of an independent Academic Advisory Board comprised of educators from schools across the country.
