C-SPAN’S CITIES TOUR TO FEATURE AUTHOR, ROBERT A. MULLINS, AND HIS BOOK, 12 MONKEYS & A GREEN JACKET
AUGUSTA, Ga. -EGSC Political Science Instructor, Robert A. Mullins, and his book, 12 Monkeys & a Green Jacket, will be featured on C-SPAN’s Cities Tour programming. The tour travels to selected cities to feature the history and literary life of these communities. As part of its Book TV and American History TV programming, C-SPAN visits various literary and historic sites, to interview local historians, authors and civic leaders. The Augusta, Georgia segment will air on August 1st and 2nd.
Mullins’ book has also been nominated for the Georgia Historical Society’s Hawes Award. The Hawes Award, established in 1993, is given for the best book in Georgia county or local history published during the previous year.
In “12 MONKEYS & A GREEN JACKET” (published by Xlibris), Mullins invites readers to explore Southern history, more importantly, the history of Augusta, through one of the Southeast’s most historically renowned lakes, Lake Olmstead. He presents the social history of Augusta through a series of entertaining stories – from the development of the Augusta National Golf Club, the Masters Golf Tournament, the Augusta Canal, local politics and Augusta as a winter resort. Extensively illustrated with period photographs from both public and private sources, Mullins’ book provides a fascinating look at some forgotten aspects of political, social, economic and environmental history of Augusta.

About the Author
Robert A. Mullins earned his J.D. from the University Of Oregon School Of Law, his M.A. in Political Science from Emory University and his B.S. from Presbyterian College. Mullins has authored numerous professional journal articles, served as the editor of the CSRA Environmental Law Reporter, and is a political science professor at East Georgia State College and an adjunct professor in the legal studies program at American Public University.
