EGSC, ECSO partner to offer training

   On Thursday, October 15, 2015, the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department and East Georgia State College Police Department will hold a training opportunity, “Intervening with the Mentally Ill” from 8 a.m. to noon at EGSC’s Gambrell Auditorium. This training will be presented by Victoria Burdeshaw, Suicide Prevention Case Manager with the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. Topics will include Signs and Symptoms of Mental Illness. Overview of Mood Disorders and PTSD, Overview of Suicide Prevention, Crisis De-Escalation Techniques, Brief Overview of Mental Illness and Georgia Law, and a Personal Story from a Vietnam Veteran. This training counts as four hours P.O.S.T. credit.
