President Dawn Cartee of Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) and President Bob Boehmer of East Georgia State College (EGSC) recently further solidified the partnership of the two institutions by signing an agreement to share bus transportation for their students.
Currently, under contract with First Transit, Inc., EGSC provides bus transportation for its students to and from Georgia Southern University’s Paulson Stadium bus stop and East Georgia State College’s Statesboro facility at 10449 US Highway 301 South. This new agreement will extend EGSC’s current bus route to include an OTC bus stop at 1 Joseph E. Kennedy Blvd. for OTC students. The shared bus will run Monday through Thursday from 7:45 A.M. until 5:15 P.M. The bus runs for EGSC only on Fridays as OTC does not have Friday classes.
OTC students will be provided designated student IDs to indicate eligibility for transportation. The service will provide for convenience and safety of the students as well as energy savings.
This is the first agreement to share transportation services between a Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) institution and a University System of Georgia (USG) institution. The agreement demonstrates how TCSG and USG can improve the efficiency of student services and support through creative initiatives which benefit students from both systems. EGSC and OTC have an established partnership with a strong history of collaboration to provide the best possible learning environments for their students. This agreement is indicative of how the colleges share their vision for the future.
