GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN, EAST GEORGIA STATE COLLEGE RENEW 2 + 2 AGREEMENT AT NEW DUBLIN OFFICE ON APRIL 17TH
Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) recently renewed an agreement with East Georgia State College to offer bachelor’s degrees online in accounting, human resource management, management and marketing. The signing took place at GSW’s new External Programs office located on US Highway 80 in Dublin.
“Having a dedicated office for online students in this area provides one-stop shop for advisement, financial aid and admission without having to visit campus,” said Dr. Liz Wilson, dean of the School of Business. “More and more students are coming back to school as their current or desired jobs require a college degree. Our program is geared toward the working student or one who has other responsibilities that require him or her to complete his or her degree at times when most colleges aren’t open.”
Since 2008, Southwestern’s School of Business Administration has had 20 transfer students from EGSC earn bachelor’s degrees and 12 are currently enrolled. Thanks to the online nature of GSW’s program, most of these students have been able to complete their coursework without having to leave their hometown. In all, the online program in GSW’s school of Business is one of only five percent of schools in the world with AACSB accreditation.
“Georgia Southwestern takes very seriously its responsibility to provide programming wherever needed.” Said Dr. Kendall Blanchard, GSW president. “We also enjoy productive, collaborative relationships with the other colleges in the University System of Georgia. East Georgia State College is an important partner and their collaboration is important to our School of Business Administration and its growth over the past few years. At the same time, the programs that our business faculty provide either on-line or on the campuses of our partner institutions provide opportunities for place-bound students who otherwise would be unable to complete the requirement for an undergraduate degree.”
“East Georgia State College is focused on the mission of access and opportunity,” added EGSC President Boehmer. “We are committed to providing the best possible learning environment for our student. Our partnership with GSW allows us to accomplish that goal.”
