East Georgia State College’s Piney Woods Disc Golf course will be the site of the Georgia Collegiate Disc Golf Open on Saturday, Oct. 1 with registration beginning at noon, and Sunday, Oct. 2 beginning at 9 a.m. The course will be open for practice rounds prior to registration on Oct. 1. The highest finishing competitive team not otherwise qualified for the 2017 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships will qualify for the 2017 NCDGC in Augusta.
The tournament will consist of three rounds: two singles and one round of NCDGC format doubles. Awards will be presented at noon on October 2.
Four-member teams will contest two rounds of singles and one round of doubles, with medals awarded to team and individuals winners. Each competitive team can bring a fifth or alternate member, but only four members will compete in each round. The entry fee is $68 per team ($85 with alternate) which includes a t-shirt and dinner. Schools may send a second or recreational team. Recreational teams will not be official tournament competitors, but must pay the entry fee in order to get T-shirts and meal. All participants must be members of the PDGA; non-members will pay a $10 temporary membership fee at registration.
Entry fee deadline is September 29, 2016. If you decide to play in the tournament after the deadline, there will be no late fee, but t-shirts may not be available. Just call either of the numbers below and let us know you are coming. Online registration available. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Days Inn 478-237-9099. Let them know it is for EGSC to receive the discounted rate.
This is EGSC’s tenth national championship qualifier. They have hosted one every year since the inception of the National Collegiate Disc Golf Union (the forerunner to the NCDGC).
