In celebration of the creation of the American Constitution, East Georgia State College will sponsor a special panel to commemorate our Constitutional heritage. EGSC will commemorate the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution with a panel on the topic of the Constitution and national security. The panel discussion will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Room J503 on the Swainsboro campus.
The event will feature an overview of current challenges to national security and constitutional order, including comments by Drs. Lee Cheek and Brett Larson from EGSC’s Political Science Program; Dr. Carlos Cunha, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; and a special presentation by Shawn Smith, an EGSC political science major from Tattnall County who participated in the prestigious Alexander Hamilton Institute/George Washington University summer school on national security in July.
“With our current constitutional challenges, it is vital for the world’s leading democracy to remember our roots and discuss our Constitution. EGSC welcomes our whole community to share in these conversations,” said Dr. Carlos Cunha.
Student Affairs will also offer all members of the college an opportunity to register to vote before and after the event.
