East Georgia State College was the site of much excitement on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, when a group of community stakeholders, EGSC representatives and current and future students gathered to participate in a VIP Hard Hat Tour of EGSC’s newest residence hall, Bobcat Villas – West. Over 40 guests were taken through areas of the first floor in the new residence hall by Corvias Campus Living staff and were given an outline of what to expect as the new hall is completed.
The new residence hall will house 212 more students on EGSC’s Swainsboro campus, in addition to the current residence hall, Bobcat Villas – South, which houses 200 students. It will open for new residential students in Fall of 2016, with a grand opening and ribbon cutting held this summer.
"We're honored to have joined the Swainsboro community for a first look at the future Bobcats Villa West," said Jimmy Scott, Portfolio Director at Corvias Campus Living. "This new housing will help to provide a comfortable, modern residence hall for the students of EGSC and it reinforces the important community aspect of campus."
“The addition of 212 new residence hall spaces will provide a major boost to our efforts to increase enrollment,” said EGSC President Bob Boehmer. “These new students will, in turn, boost our local economy. We greatly appreciate the outstanding work by Corvias Campus Living to complete this major project so quickly and so well.”
Tour guests were treated to a spread of delicious snacks, as well as gift bags containing information about living on campus, as well as upcoming events at the college. EGSC student Haleigh Baker took home the drawing grand prize of a cooler filled with EGSC Bobcat goodies.
