All EGSC campuses to resume normal operations

Update 4:41 p.m. - October 10

On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, East Georgia State College's campuses in Statesboro, Swainsboro and Augusta will be open and classes will be held as normal.

EGSC continues to emphasize its commitment to student safety.  Students who commute from other areas to Swainsboro & Augusta are asked to make the best decision regarding their safety as they travel. If students make the decision to stay home for their safety, please remember to email your professors. EGSC will consider extenuating circumstances as it relates to inclement weather.

Update 1:45pm - October 9

 Due to ongoing power and internet outages due to Hurricane Matthew, EGSC's Statesboro campus will be closed Monday, Oct. 10. EGSC's Swainsboro and Augusta campuses will open as usual Monday, Oct 10.  We will continue to provide information as updates become available.

Update 1:00pm - October 9
  A decision is scheduled to be made at 2:00pm today, Sunday, Oct. 9, regarding the operations of the Statesboro campus for tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 10.  Information regarding the decision will be posted to the EGSC web site, social media and the college's emergency notification system.  At this time, the EGSC Swainsboro and Augusta campuses are scheduled to operate as normal tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 10.

Update 2:15 p.m. - October 6
   East Georgia State College Dining Services will be closing Friday, Oct. 7th at 1pm due to the anticipated inclement weather.

Update 12:00 p.m. - October 6, 2016
   In response to Governor Nathan Deal’s expansion of the State of Emergency to the following 30 counties (Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Echols, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Glynn, Jenkins, Jeff Davis, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs, Treutlen, Wayne and Ware) East Georgia State College’s Swainsboro campus will close at noon on Friday due to inclement weather. EGSC-Augusta will, at this time, continue to operate as normal; however, developing weather conditions will be monitored closely. Please continue to check this page as updates will be continually added as they become available.
  First Friday at The Morgan House has been cancelled due to weather concerns. The Columbia County Orchestra Concert at the Maxwell Theatre in Augusta will continue as planned; however, we are currently monitoring the weather conditions, so please make sure to check this space for updates.
  East Georgia State College’s Statesboro campus closed at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 and will reopen Monday morning. All activities and events for that campus taking place Thursday, Friday and over the weekend have been cancelled.

Update 10:30 a.m. - October 6, 2016

   As of 10 a.m., EGSC's Statesboro Campus will be closed through the weekend. All activities and events scheduled for today, Friday and through the weekend have been cancelled. Normal business operations will resume on Monday. At this time, EGSC's Swainsboro and Augusta Campuses remain open.

   The Fire and Emergency Services Administration Advisory Council meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2016 has been postponed due to weather.
