Dr. Lena White, Physics Professor at East Georgia State College, recently visited the 10th grade honors physical science class taught by Kris Peebles at Swainsboro High School. The students were studying force and motion, with an emphasis on Newton’s Third Law, as well as thrust, momentum, and projectile motion. To enhance this lesson, Dr. White worked with the class on designing  and launching bottle rockets. This is the second time that she has worked with local high school students on this project.
Peebles says that the team of teachers at Swainsboro High is working hard to encourage these young scientists, and they are especially proud of their participation in the Science Olympiad for the first time this year.
“I’m extremely proud that Swainsboro High formed a Science Olympiad team and joined this challenging competition,” added Dr. White. “We are looking forward to seeing them again this coming year.”
