East Georgia State College’s Dr. Glenn Stracher, Professor Emeritus of Geology, has been invited by four universities in China to come as a visiting professor and research scholar. Dr. Stracher and his wife, Janet, will visit China on a preliminary trip to meet professors and students and for Dr. Stracher to set up a program of collaborative research with the universities. He will also be giving lectures in various engineering departments.
The four universities he will visit are The China University of Mining and Technology, College of Safety Engineering in Beijing; Tianjin University, Department of Power and Safety Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering in Tianjin; Xi’an University of Science and Technology, School of Safety Science and Technology in Xi’an, and Zinjian University, Institute for Arid Ecology and the Environment in Urumqi.
Dr. Stracher will be lecturing about thermodynamics and minerals that form in association with the combustion of hydrocarbon gases. He will also be presenting some of his former research results about mine fires and talking about numerous articles and books he has published. The Chinese universities have these books and scientists and engineers, as well as students, are using them for their research.
