The Sport and Recreation Club of East Georgia State College will run a Disc Golf Bag-Tag Challenge from May 16 through August 15.
A Bag-Tag Challenge is an extended tournament consisting of a one-day kick-off round followed by several months of one-on-one challenge matches. All participants play the kick-off round (16 May at the Piney Woods course) and are awarded tags indicating their standing.
From there, players can challenge other players in the tier immediately above them, in an attempt to climb to the top of the standings; when the lower-ranked player wins a challenge, the players swap tags.
The tournament is open to the community. Participants must be willing to play a weekly round. Entry fee is $15; prize money will be awarded to the top three finishers. The field is limited to 28 players.
The Sport and Recreation Club hopes to raise money to defray costs of the EGSC Disc Golf Team’s participation in the 2015 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships in Augusta and to establish a Piney Woods Disc Golf Club for community members who enjoy disc golf and play on the EGSC Piney Woods Disc Golf Course.
