East Georgia State College instructor Darlene C. Dickens has recently published a new book. The book, Introductory Biology Lab Manual I, will be used in her classes at EGSC’s Statesboro campus, where she teaches biology.
Dickens attended Emanuel County Junior College upon her graduation as valedictorian of her senior class at Adrian School. She earned her Associate degree in biology, then went on to attend Georgia College in Milledgeville, earning her Bachelor’s degree in biology. For the next 20 years, she worked with the Department of Agriculture as a lab technician and a poultry products grader. She earned her Master’s degree from Georgia College and State University in 1997 and taught in the Telfair County School System, Bibb County School System and Laurens County School System teaching biology and chemistry to secondary students. She was also an adjunct professor at Middle Georgia College, teaching biology and integrated science in both online and campus classes.
In 2008, Dickens retired with 30 years from the State of Georgia and began teaching at EGSC in 2009. She is now a full-time instructor of biology on the Statesboro campus.
