Camp Discovery was held at the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center of East Georgia State College July 13-16 as part of the kids’ program held each Summer. The participants were involved with different hands-on science activities each day. Activities included a Chemistry Day, in which the students made lava lamps and tie-dyed t-shirts using Sharpies and a Sun Day that included planetarium shows, making sun prints, and preparing s’mores using homemade solar ovens. The students especially enjoyed Messy Science Day with erupting elephant toothpaste and soda/mint geysers. The students enjoyed the learning experiences and told Director Jean Schwabe that they wished the camp would last a little longer. Camp Discovery was carried out by Darlene C. Dickens, Instructor of Biology at East Georgia State College. She was assisted by Malanie Jackson, an East Georgia State College Education major.
