The East Georgia State College Bobcats were able to remain undefeated in conference and set up a "Battle of the Unbeatens" matchup with Chattahoochee Tech with their 48-43 win over Georgia Perimeter.
The score tells the story in this one as it was a defensive game with neither side being able to get very many good looks. The Bobcats were out-rebounded but made up for it by turning over the ball less and shooting a better percentage from the field.
D.J. Felder was the star of this game as he put up 16 points with 11 rebounds, one assist, and three blocks. He continued his recent strong play in a game where the Bobcats really needed him.
Jordan Johnson struggled a bit in this game, but still wound up with 12 points, four assists, one rebound, one steal, and one block. Tre' Hagood went for six points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Brian Pearson didn't score, but played well down low with 10 rebounds one steal, and three blocks.
It was the type of ugly game that championship teams win, so while they didn't exactly play great basketball, the Bobcats were of course still happy about the victory.
The win sets up probably the single-biggest game in the program's history as the Bobcats next game will be against Chattahoochee Tech at home on Wednesday January, 23rd. The Bobcats currently stand at 17-1 overall and 9-0 in the conference and the Golden Eagles are at 19-1 and 11-0 in the conference. The team's are tied for first in the conference, and a win puts the victor atop the standings all by themselves.
Both teams are nationally ranked and could get a huge boost if they can pull it out in the end. The game will start at 7:30 in Swainsboro, GA.
