Upcoming Scholarships at EGSC!

East Georgia State College is excited to announce two upcoming scholarships. The deadline to apply for the Bryant, Dorothy and John Black Scholarship and the Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship is December 15, 2021.

Bryant, Dorothy and John Black Scholarship:

The Bryant, Dorothy and John Black Scholarship is open to all EGSC students in Swainsboro, Statesboro, or Augusta. The $300 scholarship will be awarded Spring 2022. The recipient must be active in clubs, the community, and service activities. Applicants will need to apply, have a recommendation from a college official, and complete a short essay that is 250 words or less. The topic of the essay is what the applicant believes is the three most important qualities to look for in a leader and why.

Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship:

The Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded in Spring 2022. The recipient must be a resident of Georgia and a nontraditional (out of high school for five or more years) EGSC student in Swainsboro who is a wife or mother. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and must be taking nine or more hours in the Spring 2022 semester.

Alumni Association Scholarship:

The Alumni Association Scholarship is for existing students. EGSC students who apply must have a 3.0 GPA and have a family member that has attended EGSC, EGC, or EGJC. Rachel Jane Frederick Friendship and Service Scholarship:

The Rachel Jane Frederick Friendship and Service Scholarship is awarded by the family of Rachel Frederick, an outstanding student at EGSC and forever Miss East Georgia State College.  Rachel passed away from complications of a brain tumor and her family chose to honor her memory with a scholarship given to a current student who most exemplifies the traits of Rachel.

The $500 scholarship will be awarded in the Spring of 2022. The recipient must be a current EGSC student who has completed 12 hours of classes and is registered for 12 hours in the Spring. An essay is required to apply, and the recipient must excel in service and leadership. Applicants must be from Emanuel or Johnson County. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2021.
