The 2017 Essay Topic

To participate in the contest, applicants should write a 600-word essay answering the following question:

According Boat US Foundation, nearly half of all boating accidents involve alcohol. In most states, it is illegal to drive a boat with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher. What are the drinking and driving boating regulations in your state and what do you believe your state can implement to ensure safer boating?

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be planning to enroll in an accredited United States college or University in the Spring 2018 semester.
  • Incoming and existing law students enrolled in the Spring 2018 semester (1L, 2L, 3L) are eligible to participate.

January 31, 2018 9 AM EST
