Spring scholarship application deadline set for Jan. 8 for current EGSC students

   East Georgia State College makes scholarships available for current EGSC students each semester. Scholarships that will be awarded at the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester are now open for applications. The deadline to submit to the following scholarships is January 8, 2020.

   Alumni Association Scholarship –Through a gift from the EGSC Alumni Association, the EGSC Foundation will award two scholarships in the amount of $250 each.  Eligible applicants must be a family member of a former student at this institution (either at Emanuel County Junior College, East Georgia College or East Georgia State College). The student must be a current full-time student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The scholarship requires a short essay of 250 words or less answering the question, " How has this institution affected your family?"

   Beta Sigma Phi Non- Traditional Student Scholarship –Through a gift from the Xi Delta Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, the EGSC Foundation will provide a scholarship of $1000 annually based on application, essay and need to a non-traditional Swainsboro campus student who is a wife and/or mother.

   Bryant, Dorothy and John Black Scholarship – Through a gift from the family, the EGSC Foundation will award $300 annually based on application, essay, merit and school involvement. Open to current students at any campus. 

   Firehouse Subs Public Safety Scholarship – Through a gift from the Firehouse Subs Foundation, the EGSC Foundation awards $1000/semester to FESA degree students at East Georgia State College.  Students must be enrolled in the FESA program at least one term before the award is received, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours), and cannot be receiving other financial assistance.  Scholarships cannot exceed the cost of tuition and fees.  Fall semester recipient scholarships are renewable for the following spring term, if they maintain a 3.0 CGPA.

   Applicants must write an essay explaining how they will use the FESA degree for the benefit of their emergency service organization and their community and provide two (2) letters of reference.  Recipients must consent to the release of their name, email address, phone number, award amount and grade information to the donor.

   Kiwanis Club Scholarship – Through a gift from the Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro, the EGSC Foundation will award $200 to a full time EGSC student with a 3.0 GPA or better. Must be an officer in the EGSC Circle K club or the spouse, child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an active Swainsboro Kiwanis Club member.

   Rachel Jane Frederick Friendship and Service Scholarship – Through a gift from her family, this scholarship is in memory of Rachel Jane Frederick, a 2012 graduate of EGSC and Miss EGSC 2011. It is open to all EGSC students from Emanuel or Johnson County. The $500 winner will be awarded for the Spring semester. It must be awarded to a student that has completed 12 hours or more and will be enrolled for 12 hours or more in the Spring semester.

   To apply for any of these scholarships, students should go to www.ega.edu/scholarships and choose apply for a scholarship.  Sign in with your credentials and complete the application tab first. This will give you the follow up tasks for the scholarships you are qualified to apply for.  After completing all information, remember to hit the submit tab.
