After a fantastic season, seven East Georgia State College Bobcat Baseball players have been named to the GCAA All-Conference Teams.
“East Georgia State College experienced the best baseball season in school history this past season, and the following players that were selected GCAA All-Conference were a major reason for the success of our Bobcats this season,” said Athletic Director Chuck Wimberly. “They provide strong leadership and great knowledge of the game that helped promote our team to achieve great things this season. I congratulate them and all of our Bobcats on their accomplishments this season.”
Outfielder Nathan Fancher, infielders Drew Haywood and Keven Jimenez, DH Ashton Pratt and pitcher Rhett Gay were named to the First Team All Conference. Infielder Christian Castro and pitcher Tyler Owens were named to the Second Team All Conference.
The Bobcats’ season ended last week during GCAA Conference play after the team lost to South Georgia State College 8 to 4. In conference play, the Bobcats fell to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on May 9 with a score of 11 to 2. The Bobcats rallied on May 10 against Gordon State College, winning 6 to 3, before falling to SGSC to end their conference run.
Though the season is over, the Bobcats posted several school and program records, posting the most wins in conference history for EGSC at 24 and 6, and the most wins in a season for EGSC at 32 and 17.
Congratulations to all of our Bobcats on a great season, and we look forward to next year!
