Senator Jack Hill visited Statesboro on October 16, 2015 as part of the “Day of Social Studies at CCAT.” He was the guest speaker for the event, and was introduced by East Georgia State College Associate Professor of Political Science, Dr. Tom Caiazzo.
Senator Hill spoke about the purpose and role of the Georgia Legislature, as well as secondary and higher education in the state. He answered questions from the audience, and took time to meet with EGSC Statesboro students.
Dr. Caiazzo and his students later observed social science activities at the school, which included student elections, balancing the budget modules, critical thinking exercises pertaining to contemporary issues, and the model U.N. in action.
“Senator Hill is a true public servant and does so much for our community,” said Dr. Caiazzo, who serves as the Governing Board Chairman for CCAT and personally invited Senator Hill to the event. “He is also a friend and supporter of both East Georgia State College and CCAT—the only charter school in his district. I am honored to call him a friend and equally proud that he represents all of us for Senate District 4 in Atlanta.”
