Tabithia Ross has been named Director of Records (Registrar) at East Georgia State College. She will take over the position from Janet Stracher, who retired this month.
Originally from Macon, Ross attended Jones County High School. She then received her Associate of Arts degree from East Georgia State College, a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University, and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern and is expected to graduate in Fall of 2017. She has worked with East Georgia State College for nearly nine years, starting her career as Records Coordinator I, then promoted to Records Coordinator II. She has also worked as the administrative assistant to the Athletic Director and worked as the Academic Center for Excellence Coordinator at EGSC’s Statesboro Campus. She returned to the EGSC Registrar’s Office in August of 2015.
She is married to Michael Ross, and they have two daughters, Sierra and Madison, and two dogs, Tebow and Bella. She loves to cook and says that cupcakes are a passion.
“I love what I do,” she says. “It is stressful at times, but I receive a sense of satisfaction when the students I have helped cross the stage and earn a degree, especially since I am an alumnus myself and a first-generation college student. I was also a non-traditional student.”
“I encourage students at any age to set academic and professional goals for themselves and I will do what I can to help,” she says.
Ross began her duties as Registrar on June 1, 2016.
