On Thursday, October 29, the 9th annual Healthy U Health Fair will be held at the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The community is invited to come by and take advantage of the free event, which will include health screenings and education.
Available screenings include height and weight, blood pressure, cholesterol/glucose, hemoglobin, vision, depression and anxiety, percent body fat (BMI) and HIV. There will also be PSA testing for men over 50, as well as dental hygiene displays and cosmetic tips.
Flu shots will be offered by the Emanuel County Health Department (please have your insurance card ready to make sure you are covered), and Walgreens will be on site offering pneumonia and shingles vaccines. To take advantage of the Walgreens services, individuals must stop by the store and give the pharmacist the following information: name, date of birth, allergies, address, copy of insurance (if Medicare, a copy of that), phone number (must be valid so that they can contact you to let you know the shot is covered) and whether you’ve had a previous vaccine (more than one pneumonia vaccine.) You must also be 50 or older for the shots provided by Walgreens.
Sponsors for this event are the Mill Creek Foundation, Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department, Emanuel Medical Center, East Georgia Healthcare Center, East Georgia State College, Southeastern Technical College and UGA Extension.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to become a healthier you with the Healthy U Health Fair!
