Miss EGSC Scholarship Pageant to be held February 28th

MISS EAST GEORGIA STATE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 28th


Guests of the 2015 Miss East Georgia State College (EGSC) Scholarship Pageant will enjoy an entertaining evening of the “Young and Beautiful” , the theme from The Great Gatsby Film, as talented EGSC students compete for the opportunity to represent the College and compete in the Miss Georgia Pageant, which could ultimately lead to becoming Miss America.
Who will win the crown? Find out at the pageant on Saturday, February 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the Luck Flanders Gambrell Center Auditorium on East Georgia's main campus in Swainsboro.
Admission, payable at the door, is $7 for adults  Students with a current BobCat Card are admitted free.
The newly crowned Miss East Georgia State College will compete in the Miss Georgia Pageant, June 13-20 at the River Center in Columbus, Georgia.  The Miss Georgia Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss America Pageant and has evolved well beyond being focused on beauty.
Volunteerism has become a very important part of the pageant system. In addition to raising donations for the Children’s Miracle Network, all contestants select a platform and become an advocate for their chosen cause.
The event at EGSC is sponsored by the Student Government Association and the mistress of ceremonies will be EGSC's own , Dabney Edenfield.  There will be a People's Choice award.

This year’s contestants for Miss East Georgia State College are:
Contestant #1: Kristen Floyd
• Age: 18
• Major: Broadcast Journalism
•  Kristen is from Hinesville, GA.  She will be singing “Listen” by Beyonce and is promoting her platform, the “Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.”

Contestant #2: Ke’Shon Hinkins
• Age: 20
• Major: Sociology/Social Work
• Ke’Shon is from Hephzibah, GA.  Tonight she will be reciting a poem “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes and is promoting her platform, “Care for Asthma.”

Contestant #3: Taylor Hall
• Age: 20
• Major: Mathematics
• Taylor is from Twin City, GA.  She will be performing a lyrical dance to “Something in the Water” by Carrie Underwood and will be promoting her platform, “Every Child Matters.”

Contestant #4: Hannah Gray
• Age: 19
• Major: Biology
•  Hannah is from Swainsboro, GA.  She will by performing a flute solo to “Let it Go” from the movie Frozen and she will be promoting her platform “Melanoma Awareness.”

Contestant #5: JaCourtney Cummings
• Age: 18
• Major: Biology
•JaCourtney is from Augusta, GA. She will be performing a piece on the piano.  She is promoting her platform “Become a More Responsible Student: Financial Aide Awareness”

Contestant #6: Annetenisha Johnson
• Age: 18
• Major: Early Childhood Education
•  Annetenisha is from Douglas, GA.  She will be performing a praise dance to “I Don’t Look Like What I have been Through” by Deon Kipping and she is promoting her platform, “Anti-Bullying; Cleft Palate Awareness.”

Contestant #7: Allison Durden
• Age: 22
• Major: Biology
• Allison is from Swainsboro, GA.  She will be performing a tap dance to “Proud Mary”  and will be promoting her platform “Youth Empowerment through the Boys and Girls Club.”
