The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats Softball team traveled to Brewton Parker on Tuesday, February 11 and picked up two victories.
Game one would be a pitching duel. Madison Poole pitched five innings for the Bobcats giving up only one run. Payten Strickland entered the game to close the deal and give the Bobcats the victory at 2 to 1.
At the plate in game one, Alana Hooks and Alana Lee would each score runs for the Bobcats, with Alana Lee and Taylor Morgan getting RBI’s for the Bobcats in the 4th inning.
Alana Hooks and Olivia Christian would each go two for three at the plate in game 1.
Game two would see Madison Bussell take the mound for five innings of work to get the victory with Poole coming in for the save.
The Bobcats would win 10 to 7 in game two. Casey Sims, Stephanie Ruffin and Taylor Morgan each provided three hits giving the Bobcats a three-run lead in the first inning.
“We played really well defensively committing only one error in two games, and we were able to get timely hits when needed at the plate,” said Head Coach Chuck Wimberly. “Our pitchers did an outstanding job, and Coach Jennings called a great game for them. I was really impressed with Makenzie Wilkerson behind the plate in game one with her ability to block up pitches and not allow runners to advance with her hard work behind the plate.”
The Lady Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, February 15 vs. USC Sumter at Bobcat Field in Swainsboro, GA.
