Join EGSC for First Friday at The Morgan House

On Friday, November 1, 2019, beginning at 5:30 p.m., join the East Georgia State College family for First Friday at The Morgan House. This month, refreshments will be provided by the Office of Institutional Advancement, music by the EGSC MusicMakers, and an art show entitled Poison & Antidote. Poison & Antidote was born from the idea of collaborating with fellow friends. Originally planned to simply be a single piece, it transformed into a collection of poetry and photography. Holland, the primary author and creator, asked for Ladson's, Michelle's, and Kyle's help to tell this story of metamorphosis. The show was originally intended to be a fun project on the side but turned into a self-discovery for all involved, and perhaps, all of the artists involved went through their own metamorphosis while working on this project.

Inspired by life experiences and the incredible resilience that is human emotional strength, Holland set forth to create this collection using past experiences to create emotionally charged pieces. She organized them in a way to tell a story of metamorphosis; one in which love transforms from a poison into an antidote while the narrator finds in herself self-love and acceptance--perhaps the greatest love of them all.

First Friday is a celebration of campus and community that brings together students, faculty and staff with the community we serve for fun, food, music and art. Art shows are curated by Professor Desmal Purcell and feature everything from 2D to 3D student work, paintings, photography, jewelry, boomerangs, and more. If you're interested in displaying work at The Morgan House during First Friday, contact him at to be put on the schedule. The EGSC MusicMakers, are coordinated by English Professor Dr. Alan Brasher and welcome any and all musicians of any skill level to join in and sing, play, or even shake a maraca to the beat.

The Morgan House is located at 521 West Moring Street in Swainsboro. Don’t miss this great chance for the community and campus to interact in a fun, relaxed evening of fellowship and entertainment.
