Of special interest to all of us at the Law Office of Jeffrey Lichtman are issues pertaining to criminal justice reform and those related to sentencing guidelines for convicted offenders. As such, we are proud to announce the Jeffrey Lichtman Criminal Justice Reform Scholarship. This annual $1,000 award will be presented to a higher education student we feel embodies and effectively communicates our shared belief in the need for true reform in the criminal justice arena that includes comprehensive review of existing sentencing guidelines and possible eradication of mandatory minimum sentences.

Submission Details

All applicants must submit must provide an original, written essay consisting of at least 750 words which discusses their philosophy on matters of criminal justice reform and articulates the ways in which they intend to champion the causes of eliminating mandatory minimum sentences and conducting ongoing reviews of criminal sentencing guidelines. All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. This scholarship is offered to any student currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program. This includes incoming first-year college students who are high school graduates or possess a GED.


Applicants must submit their full application (cover sheet, updated resume, essay, transcript) by no later than January 31, 2018.
